Members of the Gender Equality Dialogues’ (GED) pilot cohort collectively developed the following public charter and joint commitments:

We, the GED, have come together with the purpose of:

  1. Identifying and lowering barriers to participation and leadership in the seafood industry

  2. Initiating conversations about gender equity in our industry

  3. Creating opportunities for underrepresented groups to thrive in the seafood industry

  4. Creating a more equitable and supportive workplace for all employees

We believe that by having a diverse workforce, we will have a stronger, more resilient sector

  1. By encouraging and embracing diversity of thought, perspective, and experience, which will in turn boost innovation, creativity, and inclusive decision-making

  2. By increasing well-being and a sense of belonging for employees, in turn increasing engagement, performance, and retention.

  3. By working as a company to improve the employee experience by identifying areas of unconscious bias

  4. By better reflecting the communities in which we live, work, and serve

We are committed to:

  1. Serving as champions for a diverse and gender equitable seafood industry

  2. Improving our understanding of how our existing practices and norms may limit or advance gender equity

  3. Engaging in concerted efforts to support equal opportunity and equity across the company, building workplaces where the success and well-being of employees of all genders is supported
